Educational offerings are held at either Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, The Woman’s Hospital of Texas; or Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. Some individual offerings may be at different locations than those listed above; directions will be provided with registration confirmation. Directions to each hospital and classroom along with parking directions are given below. The registration field on the HACPP website will indicate which hospital will host the offering. A copy of these guidelines with an e-mail noting the location will be sent with your registration confirmation.
GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
- Class handouts or manuals will be provided at course sign in except for AWHONN Fetal Monitoring courses & the NRP Instructor Course.
- The target audience for core educational offerings is novice nurses or experienced nurses who are new to Perinatal nursing.
- All offerings, unless notified otherwise, begin at 8:00 am. Please arrive before the scheduled start time to allow time for sign in and to find a seat. (Sign-in is from 7:30 to 8:00 am). Allow plenty of driving time as freeways are crowded at that time of the morning.
- Plan to stay for the entire offering. Participants are expected to be present for all content to receive continuing nursing education hours.
- Member and affiliate institution participants must wear their institution name badge or be charged $50 for not wearing a name badge.
- Temperature control is difficult in any large room. Bring a jacket or sweater.
- Be prepared to pay for parking, breaks and lunch unless notified otherwise. Food service is available in the hospital cafeterias and directions will be given at the beginning of each course.
- Food and drink may not be allowed in certain classrooms or auditoriums – check with the course coordinator before bringing food or drink into the classroom/auditorium.
- As a representative or your institution, your dress and behavior should advance the professional image your institution wishes to put forward in the community.
- Special Instructions for AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Courses and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor Course. All AWHONN Fetal Monitoring original course materials must be purchased from Kendal Hunt Publishing Co. before the course date (instructions on flyer). NRP Instructor Course material purchase instructions are on the flyer. Participants are expected to read the manuals before each course.
MEMORIAL HERMANN SOUTHWEST HOSPITAL DIRECTIONS
Classes held at MHSW will be in Medical Plaza 2, 7737 Community Drive, in Learning Center Classroom A or B or the Wilson Turner Auditorium. Parking is $6 in the garage and a bit cheaper on the surface lot.
From US 59 N, travel South, exit Beechnut and make a U turn under 59 to the north bound frontage road. Turn right onto Community Drive to either the Alamo Parking # 2 lot or the Southwest Parking Garage.
From the Sam Houston Tollway, travel North on US 59, exit Beechnut, follow the frontage road to Community Dr., turn right to either the Alamo Parking # 2 lot or the Southwest Parking Garage.
From IH 10 W, exit South to the Sam Houston Tollway, then North on US 59, exit Beechnut, follow the frontage road to Community Dr., turn right to either the Alamo Parking # 2 lot or the Southwest Parking Garage.
From IH 10 E, travel West to US 59, then South on 59, exit Beechnut and make a U turn under 59 to the north bound frontage road. Turn right onto Community Drive to either the Alamo Parking # 2 lot or the Southwest Parking Garage.

THE WOMAN’S HOSPITAL OF TEXAS DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
Classes will usually be taught in the 7550 Fannin building, Classroom C on the ground floor. Parking is $5 unless you use the valet where you will need to add a tip.
From US 59 N, travel South to Hwy 288. Go south on Hwy 288 to the Old Spanish Trail exit; turn right onto OST; follow OST to Fannin and turn left. Turn right into the hospital and park in the first parking garage on your right. Take the elevator to the first floor and go left past the pharmacy to classroom C.
From US 59 S, travel North on US 59, exit Loop 610 S, follow Loop 610 S then E to Main/Buffalo Speedway. Take that exit and go left on Main under the expressway. Follow Main past the parking lot for Reliant Stadium. Veer right onto Old Spanish Trail. Follow OST to Fannin and turn right. Turn right into the hospital and park in the first parking garage on your right. Take the elevator to the first floor and go left past the pharmacy to classroom C.

METHODIST WILLOWBROOK DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is located at State Highway 249 and Willowchase Drive, one block north of F.M. Road 1960. Class will be held in classroom 3200.5. Parking is free.
From the Medical Center:
Take Loop 610 West to either the West Park Tollway, IH 10 or Hwy 290 and go west to Beltway 8. Take Beltway 8 north to SH 249 and go north. Take the FM 1960 exit and go north on the feeder road past FM 1960. You will see the hospital a little ways up on your right. Turn right into the hospital and park in front of the SOUTH entrance. Go in the South entrance and take elevators to the 3rd floor. Walk into the Hospital side of the building (the other side is an office building). At the first hallway turn left to the first door on your left which is Education Classroom 3200.5. There will be signs on the 3rd floor directing you.
From South or Southeast Houston:

1. Apply concepts of the nursing process to the plan of care for obstetrical clients to ensure optimal maternal fetal outcomes.
2. Synthesize risk factors and assessment data related to the management of the high-risk obstetrical client to ensure optimal maternal fetal outcomes.
3. Demonstrate fetal monitoring interpretation skills essential to caring for the maternal/fetal dyad.
4. Demonstrate neonatal resuscitation skills essential to caring for the newborn..
5. Integrate elements of cultural and age specific competency into the plan of care for the childbearing family.
6. Identify the impact of National Patient Safety Goals and National Voluntary Consensus Standards on perinatal nursing care.
7. Examine psychosocial issues impacting the childbearing family.
8. Examine strategies for addressing moral, legal and ethical issues in perinatal nursing.

HACPP modules are designed for both new and experienced nurses working in perinatal areas. Each day of each module offers Type 1 continuing nursing education hours. Participants can register for a single day or all days of a module. |
